One Saturday in 1996, I sat down with a box of cassettes and a fistful of Christmas CDs to make a few mixtapes to hand out to my friends. I called it “Christmas in December,” playing on “Christmas in July,” a mediocre joke that has now become an accidental holiday tradition. Over the past 20 years, my mailing list has grown from a handful to a wonderfully large list of about 100 families.

Two decades and nearly 500 songs later, from C-90s to CDs to our new digital distribution matrix, CiD remains usually festive, sometimes puzzling, and always annual. Thanks for listening.
